School Snowboarding Trip

School Snowboarding Trip

Students love going on fun and adventurous school excursions.  Most of them work very hard at school all year long and really appreciate it when they have an exciting trip to look forward to at the end of the year.  If you are able to organise a school snowboarding trip for them, then you are going to have some of the happiest and most appreciative kids around.  This can be the most fun that they have all year long, and if done correctly you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it as well.

Snowboards are very cool these days, what started as a fairly small underground activity has grown up to become a respected Olympic sport.  As snowboarding competitions continue to attract big sponsorship and huge crowds, more and more people are becoming aware of just how much fun it can be.  Your students will certainly be aware of snowboarding and the culture that surrounds it.  They will be more than happy to strap on a board for a few days and enjoy the thrills that snowboarding can offer.

Snowboarding is loosely based around the surfing and skateboarding cultures, and it was definitely inspired by these sports when it began way back in the 1960's.  America was arguably the birth place of snowboarding way back in 1965 when a man named Sherman Poppen designed the 'Snurfer' as a toy for his children to use.  This prototype was to be manufactured as a commercial product the next year.  The sport grew fairly slowly in the 70's and 80's as the snowboards themselves turned into a resemblance of what we know today.

Snowboarding has always held a fascination among children and youth.  If you visit most ski slopes today you will see a clear distinction in ages between those who use skis and those more interested in snowboards.  The popularity of snowboarding has slowly been increasing since its invention, and now about 20% of all activity at ski resorts is dedicated to snowboarding.  Often it will be the kids leading the way, as established resorts and skiers seem slow to change their old habits and prejudices.  Even today some resorts have only just opened their doors and allowed snowboarding to take place.

Snowboarding can be an expensive activity as a school trip, but it is possible if approached in the right way.  You don't have to buy any new equipment at all as most of the time you can just go to the nearest snowboard shop and hire everything that you need.  If you do your homework and shop around you may even be able to get everything you need directly from the ski resort.

Going on a school snowboarding trip can be heaps of fun for all;  yes it will take a lot of planning and can cost quite a bit, but it will be well worth it.  The kids will have a memory that will last forever and you will know that you offered them a truly fun and exciting vacation.
